Mumbai: Going in as favourites after history backing them, South Africa were put on a real back foot in their World Cup clash against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, courtesy Shikhar Dhawan’s 137 off 146 balls that included 16 boundaries and two huge sixes. Micro-blogging site Twitter went abuzz with many congratulatory messages pouring in for Shikhar Dhawan and Team India. After India's massive 130-run win over the Proteas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee immediately congratulated the team.

Sachin Tendulkar, who was also present at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, tweeted congratulating the Men in Blue.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan thanked the left-hander as well as Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli.

Member of Parliament and former Sports Minister Ajay Maken was impressed by India’s target and wished the team success in the match.

Cricketing expert and commentator Harsha Bhogle also was quite impressed with Dhawan’s batting performance, said it was even better than the one in Cardiff.

Former Indian batting sensation and Hyderabad born VVS Laxman was impressed by Dhawan’s ton and said that it was the left-hander’s hard work that paid.

Famous cricket journalist Ayaz Memon praised Dhawan’s performance.

B-Town star Arjun Rampal also wished the Indian team for this massive game.

Veteran Indian film director and producer Shekhar Kapur, missed Dhawan’s innings and he highly regretted it.

Sonakshi Sinha also went ecstatic after India posed a massive 307 target.
