Sreesanth was attacked with knife in jail: reports
Thiruvananthapuram: S Sreesanth, who was arrested on charges of alleged spot-fixing during Indian Premier League in 2013, was attacked in prison, during his 26-day stay in Tihar Jail in May 2013, according to reports.
The cricketer told his family about the incident after he was released on bail, it is learnt.
According to reports, the cricketer said that while he was taking a stroll inside the jail premises, a criminal jumped before him with a sharp knife which led to a clash. The attacker injured the bowler’s hand before being taken away by the jail authorities.
The cricketer was later shifted to a different cell after the incident.
However, the family said they did not want another controversy that time and hence, did not reveal it to the media.
The cricketer’s trial has now been completed in a Delhi court and the verdict is expected by March 2015.
