Mumbai: The trailer of the much awaited film ‘Bombay Velvet’ is all set to release on March 19. The day also happens to coincide with the quarter finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
Director Anurag Kashyap earlier denied reports that his much-awaited period drama 'Bombay Velvet' had been postponed again. The 42-year-old filmmaker took to Twitter to set the record straight and said the Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma film will release on its scheduled date of May 15.
'Bombay Velvet', based on historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables', narrates the story of how the city in '60s became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. Raveena Tandon, who was slated to play a jazz singer in the film, has opted out of it due to the changes in the sequences in the post-production stage.
Fox Star tweeted this picture and said, " Here he's again: U hv seen ths signature step - take this #MaukaMauka to guess wht he's upto. #RanbirKapoor is here !"
Ranbir will essay the role of Johnny Balraj, a street fighter, whereas Anushka plays the role of Rosie Noronha, and aspiring Jazz singer. ‘Bombay Velvet’ also marks the debut of director Karan Johar, who will be seen in a negative role as Kaizad Khambatta.
