VK Singh in a fresh tweet row, dubs journalists as ‘presstitutes’
New Delhi: Minister of state for external affairs Gen. V.K. Singh (Retd) has landed himself in yet another controversy, this time over his remarks dubbing some journalists as ‘presstitutes”, even as the minister tweeted on Wednesday that “if a simple remark that the media finds (evacuation efforts from) Yemen less exciting than my attending Pak Day (the recent Pakistan National Day celebrations at the Pakistan high commission) is contorted out of shape, then SOS GOD”.
While the BJP distanced itself from Gen. Singh’s controversial tweet, saying Twitter was a personal and not a party forum, the Congress was not amused and a Congress leader demanded Gen. Singh’s dismissal from the council of ministers.
Condemning the remarks, the Broadcast Editors Association said it was “lowering” the government’s image as Gen. Singh was making comments that are beyond “normal behavioural decency”.
