Mumbai: The hunt for Aamir Khan’s daughters in his upcoming film ‘Dangal’ is finally over. There were numerous reports stating Kangana Ranaut had been approached to play the role; however that turned out to be false.
The makers decided to go with two newcomers for the role. According to reports after months of auditioning over 21,000 girls, the casting team finally settled down on Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra for the roles.
Fatima is a Mumbai-based girl, and a dancer at Danceworx (a Mumbai-based dance academy), where as Sanya was born and brought up in Delhi, and is a trained ballet dancer. Sanya has also previously appeared in several ads.

The film is based on the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh and his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat. The team is still looking out for child stars to play the younger versions of the two girls in the film.
