Salman Khan impassive; victims want money

Abdullah Shaikh, who lost a leg, said, ‘Nobody came to visit me in the last 13 years’

Mumbai: The unfolding of Salman Khan’s verdict did not just witness courtroom drama, but an emotional one as well. Minutes before Salman arrived at the sessions court, the entire area was jampacked with TV reporters, cameramen and a huge number of fans of the actor.

At 11.15 am, when judge D.W. Deshpande announced that the actor was driving under the influence of alcohol, Salman remained impassive but looked at his family for support.

Salman’s sisters Alvira and Arpita broke down. Meanwhile, one of the victims said compensation is important in the case. “Compensation matters more than conviction,” say the victims of the hit-and-run case.

Abdullah Rauf Shaikh, who lost a leg in the accident, said, “Nobody came to visit me in the last 13 years. I am forced to do petty jobs to support my family and face a lot of problems.”

“However, I have no hard feelings for him (Salman). I still watch his movies,” he said. “Compensation matters more than conviction, my health and work suffered,” Shaikh said
