Nabeel was to take up a job in Dubai
Hyderabad: At around 11 pm on May 2, Ms Shabana Begum was preparing to retire for the day when her son Nabeel left the house stating that he was going to meet his friends.
That was the last time she saw her son alive. “He went out on most nights after his Intermediate classes finished. I was expecting him to be back by early morning,” said a distressed Ms Shabana. “He was our only son and was to be our sole breadwinner,” she said, adding that no mother in the world should have such a fate.
Since Nabeel’s father, Mr Mohammed Dastagir, had been ailing, he was supposed to take up a job and look after the family. Nabeel had three elder sisters.
He had joined a diploma course to get training before joining a travel agency in Dubai after he turned 18. His father Mr Dastagir, who works in Dubai, had planned to take Nabeel after Ramzan.
Nabeel’s cousins said that he was not a quarrelsome person, and was well behaved. His parents meanwhile said that they would seek maximum punishment for the accused.
Video is vital evidence: Police
The video footage of Nabeel’s fight has become vital evidence for police to establish the case. The group had recorded two other fights before Nabeel’s and though they had deleted the clip of Nabeel’s fight, police managed to recover it. The cops say that there is no other evidence as there were no witnesses and the body was buried without a post-mortem.
“This became the most important evidence, otherwise, the accused could have gotten away,” said South Zone DCP Mr Satyanarayana. Police found that they had also shared the video among friends over WhatsApp. “They deleted the video from the phone, however, they had already shared it. We could recover it from them,” said the DCP.
After apprehending one of the accused, the police caught the rest by identifying them from the video. On Sunday, the video went viral on the Internet and social media as several media channels and individuals shared it.
