Waddepally tank beautification left midway
Warangal: The beautification work of the Waddepally tank bund, which is aimed at attracting tourists to the place, was left incomplete due to negligence of the officials. After Kakatiya Urban Development Authority handed over the beautification project to Warangal Municipal Corporation in 2013, there was no progress in the works.
A walking track was laid and benches were set up in the lawns. However, the painting work has not been done and the walking track also is yet to be completed. As the project is remains incomplete, the tank has not been able to attract many tourists and the local people are blaming the authorities for neglecting the works.
“I come here daily for a walk with my friends since many years. When they started the beautification works, we were happy that Warangal would have its tank bund like in Hyderabad. No work has been carried out here since more than a year. The authorities sho-uld focus on the completing the work. It also has the potential to turn into a picnic spot,” said Chandrakanth a senior citizen from Prashanth Nagar colony.
Recently, when irrigation minister T. Harish Rao visited the city, local MLA Vinay Bhaskar asked him to look into the tank works. However, officials said the works were left incomplete as no contractor came forward to take up the works.
