My dad’s portrayal in the film contrasts his real life: Harish Kalyan
After half a dozen films, Harish was finally noticed for his performance in Poriyaalan
Chennai: Despite being a bundle of talent with good looks to match, success seems to have eluded young Harish Kalyan. After half a dozen films, Harish was finally noticed for his performance in Poriyaalan which fetched him the commercial thriller Vil Ambu produced by ace Suseenthiran’s banner. “I got the meaty role in Vil Ambu after Suseenthiran sir watched Poriyaalan. I play a middle class boy who aspires to become a photographer, but his strict dad wants him to pursue higher studies. It’s a challenging role with an intriguing script,” Harish tells DC.
While Srushti Dange plays his love interest, the movie features Sri of Onaayum Aattukuttyum fame as the parallel lead. Actress Chandini who is back after a hiatus essays Sri’s love interest. Directed by debutant Ramesh Subramanian, one interesting thing about the movie is that Harish’s real life father, has been roped in to play his reel dad! This news had been kept under wraps until recently. When asked how he felt about working with his father, pat comes his reply, “Actually his portrayal contrasts with his real life. He is cool and a chilled out person, whereas in the film he plays a strict father. The first two days were uncomfortable. Then I got used to the proceedings.”
Vil Ambu will be a different experience for viewers. “Audiences wouldn't be mere spectators, but will get transported into the screen and feel like witnesses in the crucial drama unfolding before them,” says the director.
