Virat Kohli blames rift between players for India’s series loss?
New Delhi: Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli shocked all and sundry in a recent television interview where he revealed that Team India took a few doubtful decisions in the lost ODI series against Bangladesh.
His statement further led to speculations about a rift in the dressing room.
"We have been doubtful in our decision-making and that shows on the field. I don't need to say this. Cricket watchers and experts can see guys not sure enough to express themselves," Kohli said.
"Where we lacked in the first two games was not being able to express ourselves with clarity of mind," the 26-year-old added.
The deputy’s statements came a day after Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed rumours of any fracas in the dressing room.
"I think we should be honest in admitting the fact that we haven't played very flamboyant cricket, and we have not come out of our shell. But as a whole, the dressing room atmosphere hasn't been anything short of anything it has been in the past,” the spinner had said.
Even Chanchal Bhattacharya, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s former coach, said that his ward wasn’t happy with the environment in the camp.
However, the contrasting proclamations from Kohli and Ashwin throws a suspicious light on what exactly is the mood behind the curtain.
