I would like to do a film in Tamil: Prabhas
Baahubali has emerged as the biggest South Indian grosser after 10 days of its release and the entire team is excited about its mammoth success. The period film’s protagonist, Prabhas, is over the moon for the gargantuan reception received for the movie across the country. However, what has surprised the actor is the unanimous response for its Tamil version. The mighty star says this was completely unexpected and makes him feel more responsible.
An elated Prabhas opens up to DC, “We were confident about the film’s success in the Tamil version. But the result exceeded my expectations. I thought that the film will gradually pick up through word-of-mouth after its release here, but the audiences gave a thumbs up from day one itself which was phenomenal.”
The actor, who is all set to enjoy a vacation in Europe for around 15 days, reveals that the shooting for the second part of the film will commence in September. Having said that, he confesses that only director Rajamouli will be able to provide information pertaining to location, the number of days for shooting, etc. Prabhas, however, says that the ‘Shivudu’ character will appear for only about 30 minutes in the film’s second installment and that it will have the romantic scenes that the audience missed in the first part.
“The team has already shot 40 per cent for the second part. All I can say is that Rajamouli is planning something big and the second edition too will have war sequences,” he says.
Quizzed on whether the actor has plans to do a film in Tamil, he responds, “Yes. If I come across an interesting script, I will definitely do a Tamil movie. But I haven’t thought about what kind of characters I should do for the Tamil audience.”
A huge fan of Rajinikanth, Prabhas says among other actors, he has met only Suriya and Karthi in person. “I admire Suriya for his humble and grounded character. I have heard a lot about Ajith’s goodwill. Even Rana, who had worked with him, has told me that he is a very good person.”
Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been going gaga over Baahubali’s success in his Twitter account since few days and he tweeted that Prabhas received a hefty amount as profit owing to the film’s dream run.
The actor reacted to this, saying, “The amount the producers have spent for the film and my remuneration were more than I could expect. In this regard, the amount quoted as my profit share is untrue.”
There was also speculation that the actor had postponed his marriage to complete this epic film. Ask him about the same, and he dismisses it as a rumour. “I don’t have any plans to get hitched now. I was only concerned about the film’s output for the last two years.”
A star who enjoys a huge female following, what are his expectations about a dream girl? “I don’t have too many expectations. In fact, Rajamouli isn’t giving me the time to dream about anything,” he signs off.
