‘I can’t explain what he suffered,’ says Sreesanth’s mother

The cricketer’s mother says she is thankful to God that the pacer came out clean

Mumbai: Tainted cricketer Sreesanth’s mother is thankful to God after charges against her son were dropped by a Delhi court on Saturday.

The cricketer – who was a part of India’s World Cup winning squad in 2011 – was banned from the sport after being held for spot-fixing during Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013 where he played for Rajasthan Royals.

Along with the pacer, two of his team-mates – Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan – were also charged for fixing.

Sreesanth, along with the trio, will be relieved after the court’s judgement.

“I really thank God for this, can't explain what he (Sreesanth) suffered,” Savithri Devi, Sreesanth’s mother told ANI.

Former India cricketer Syed Kirmani said that the incident will be a huge lesson for the future and promising youngsters of tomorrow.

Even Ankeet's father, Anil, was delighted at the decision. "I never doubted my son, we are very happy today," he told PTI.
