BSF convoy was not terrorists' main target, says IG Rakesh Sharma
Jammu: Lauding the gallant action of the martyred constables Subhendu Rai and Rocky, the Border Security Force on Thursday said their convoy was not the main target of the terrorists.
"Constable Rocky stopped the terrorists from entering a bus. He fired at the terrorist and shot him dead even after he was injured. His gallant action saved many lives," BSF IG Rakesh Sharma told media persons
"It was just by chance. BSF was not their main target. They were looking for a target and BSF convoy happened to cross over during that period of time," he added.
The BSF paid tributes to the martyred jawans, Subhendu Rai and Rocky, at their headquarters in Jammu today. Both the martyred constables were laid to rest this morning.
Terrorists disguised in wearing army fatigue attacked a BSF convoy on Wednesday at Narsu nullah, killing two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and injuring 10 others.
While one terrorist was killed as BSF immediately retaliated, two managed to flee into the forests.
Three civilians, who were held hostage by one Pakistani terrorist, have been rescued by the army and the terrorist was caught alive.
