Abysmal Indians left with burns

With a handy contribution from Matthew Wade at No.6 (34 not out off 21 balls) Australia posted 334 for four
Chennai: A question about Australia’s embarrassing Ashes performance was inevitable, but Joe Burns wouldn’t have expected it to be thrown at him the minute he took his seat for the post-match interaction after slamming his career-best List A score in a 119-run win over India ‘A’ in the one-day tri-series here on Friday.
“Were the Aussies trying to give vent to their frustration on the Indians?” Burns, who clubbed 14 sixes en route to a 131-ball 154, was asked. The 25-year-old’s response was measured much like his calculated assault on the Indian spinners. Such was the ferocity of the knock that even skipper Usman Khawaja’s 104-ball 100 became a mere footnote. With his Queensland team-mate Khawaja playing a perfect foil, Burns was involved in a majestic 239-run opening partnership in 35.5 overs.
With a handy contribution from Matthew Wade at No.6 (34 not out off 21 balls) Australia posted 334 for four. After having been dropped by wicketkeeper Sanju Samson at 15, the sturdy Burns used his feet and reach to put the Indian spinners to the sword.
