Ahmedabad: Hardik Patel, is the man who has taken Gujrat’s political scene by storm over the last couple of months. He is the man responsible for galvanising the Patidar group in Gujrat into a statewide movement to demand reservations in the OBC quota.

- Patel is a 22-year-old BCom graduate who helped his father run a small business in rural Ahmedabad. He is also the convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS).
- Following his parting with the SPG, Hardik concentrated on building up PAAS even as SPG leaders lodged an FIR against him.
- A rally orchestrated by Patel in Surat drew an estimated half a million Patels on to the streets of Diamond City.
- Recently, a controversy broke out with the emergence of a video clip showing Hardik holding guns. In that video, shared widely on social media, a provocative commentary runs in the background.
- Old photographs of Patel with VHP strongman Pravin Togadia are also fuelling the rumour mill about the mysterious source of his strength.
