Mumbai/Kolkata: Indrani Mukerjea, wife of TV baron Peter Mukerjea, confessed to her role in the murder of Sheena Bora. It has now emerged that Sheena was actually her daughter, and not her sister as believed earlier.
Sheena’s brother Mikhail maintained that he knew the exact cause of the murder and would reveal it only to the police. He added that Indrani and Sheena had many conflicts. Mikhail said that he had met Indrani in 2005 in Kolkata when she was married to Peter.

“She was not ready to tell him that Sheena and I are her children. She introduced us to him as cousins. She said she was part of a high-profile society now. We too gave in to her condition as we were financially dependent on her,” said Mikhail. Mikhail said Sheena had been living with him and his grandparents in Guwahati for a long time and Indrani had been living in Mumbai.

Sheena moved to Mumbai and studied in St. Xavier’s college. Mikhail had inquired about Sheena’s disappearance with Indr-ani who told him she had gone abroad for a job. When Mikhail tried to pressurise Indrani to reveal Sheena’s whearabouts, Indrani threatened him and said she would stop providing financial help to him. He further added that Indrani stopped helping them financially after a point. “I want justice for her (Sheena). She was innocent and didn’t deserve this death,” said Mikhail.

It is further believed that part of the problem was that Sheena was in a relationship with Rahul, Peter’s son from his first marriage. This was confirmed by Peter as well. Indrani is believed to have been against this relationship. Sources said that Rahul dropped Sheena off near National College in 2012 after which she disappeared mysteriously. Indrani is believed to have picked her up from there, after which she was never seen again.

Indrani was arrested from her plush fourth-floor Worli apartment on Tuesday. However, she was not confessing to the murder. It was only after her driver spilled the beans that she also was forced to confess.
Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria told the press that Indrani had confessed to murdering Sheena. “Her driver Rai, who is still works for Indrani, confessed to the crime and took us to the spot where they disposed of the body. We are still investigating the case and soon we will tell you the role of Khanna. We have recovered a 7.65mm pistol from the driver.”

Sources in the police have further said Indrani’s first husband Sidharth Das was Mikhail and Sheena’s father. After this she married businessman from Chapel Road Sanjiv Khanna, who was arrested earlier on Wednesday in a joint raid of the Mumbai Police and Kolkata Police from his friend’s apartment in Alipore in Kolkata.
Revelations come as shock for Peter Mukerjea
Peter Mukerjea on Wednesday said that he had no idea that Sheena Bora was his wife Indrani’s daughter and not sibling. On the other hand, the Mumbai police are also probing to find out if Peter is linked to the murder or conspiracy and questioned him at his Worli residence. Mukerjea, however, claimed before the media that Indrani had kept him in the dark all this while.

Sources said the accused driver Rai was a loyal employee of Peter and Indrani didn’t know him much. The police is likely to question Peter again as they suspect he was aware of the incident and facilitated it. Speaking to the press Peter said, “I met Sheena on several occasions. She was staying as a paying guest in Mumbai and used to visit our place several times. I also helped her to get admission in St Xavier’s College. I was told by Indrani that Sheena and Mikhail are her younger siblings.”

“Indrani said that her parents did not want them to be in a relationship so Sheena was being sent to the United States. I was not in touch with her thereafter,” he said. Peter’s son Rahul had also informed him that Sheena is not in the US as claimed by Indrani. It has also been learnt that Rahul had gone to the police back then in 2012, but the police did not confirm the same. Peter said that he had not met Indrani’s parents since their marriage in 2002.
