Movie Review 'Thakka Thakka': An engaging film with good performances

'Thakka Thakka', starring Vikranth and directed by his brother Sanjeev, is a tale of humbling hardships and rage against the humans that cause such hardships. In it, we have Thulasi (Leema Babu) - a woman who is sold, as sex slave by her own father, and who eventually ends up in the brothels giving birth to a child Sathya. As though being effectively bought and sold isn't harrowing enough, she is also murdered by a certain Bala (Arul Dass)

Fast forward a bit and now Sathya (Vikranth) has moved to Chennai in the hopes of restarting his life. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind this menacing racket is Paraman (Rahul Venkat) - a thug who seems to be seriously lacking in the compassion department. One of his subordinates, Kumar, finds out that his intention to marry Indu (Abhinaya) is void as she is already married to Karthi (Aravind)- a friend of Sathya. In a fit of rage, Kumar thus abducts Indu and sells her off. Such is the coincidence in the plot that when Sathya rescues her, he also finds and kills Bala - the same person who had earlier murdered his mom. Bala happens to be the brother of Paraman, and thus the reminder of the film portrays a tale of rage and revenge.

Thakka Thakka will certainly engage you, but the edges could used with a bit of fine-tuning. The narrative is very consonant and doesn't have too many distortions to make it unfamiliar. Vikranth has put in his best efforts and he shines in action sequences. But his character doesn't lend much room for growth. But, all said and done, the story revolves around his character and you feel his presence although he is not physically present on the sequences. All others including Aravind, Abhinaya , Arul Dass, Bose Venkat pitch in good performances.
