Sheena murder, latest: Indrani's lawyers claim she was beaten up in police custody
Mumbai: The Sheena Bora murder case, which is getting murkier by the day has shocking revelations coming out on a daily basis. Police has confirmed that the death threats alleged by Sheena's brother Mikhail Bora were genuine as he was in Mumbai around 24 April, 2012 when his sister was killed.
In the latest development on Monday, Indrani's counsel complained to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria that his officers were resorting to pressuring methods to make her confess her crime. Indrani's lawyers told the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai that she had already been interrogated for 80-90 hours.
The counsel said that she was not allowed to meet her client late on Saturday night and that Indrani's face was bruised and swollen. The lawyers also alleged that the Mumbai police had beaten her up in custody, according to reports.

1. Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the murder case of her daughter Sheena Bora, had been produced in Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai along with two other accused, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna, and her driver Shyamvar Rai. The trio have been remanded to police custody till September 5.
2. The Police, on Sunday, seized a suitcase from residential premises of Indrani and Peter Mukerjea in Mumbai's Worli area. The seizure of the suitcase from the residence of Indrani and Peter Mukerjea in Worli could lend credence to Mikhail Bora’s claim that his mother had planned to kill him too.
3. Sanjeev Khanna and Indrani's driver Shyamvar Rai have been taken to Raigad district to 'recreate' crime scene on Sunday. Officials from the Khar police station, who are investigating the alleged murder case of Sheena Bora, took two of the three accused to Pen in Raigad in a bid to reconstruct the sequence of events after the murder.
4. Mumbai Police have traced the car in which Sheena Bora was murdered. The cops have also sought call data record of all three accused in Sheena Bora murder case.
5. For the first time, Raigad police confessed to the casual way in which their personnel treated the case when a burnt body was located in their area on May 23, 2012, a month after Sheena was believed to have been murdered. Maharashtra police chief Sanjeev Dayal, on Saturday, said he will take action if it is proved that any Raigad district police official botched up the Sheena Bora case probe in 2012. IG Konkan Range has also ordered an inquiry into why no crime or accidental death case was registered by the Raigad police in 2012.
6. In a significant development, Mumbai Police on Saturday recovered the car used in the murder of Sheena Bora. The police also brought Indrani Mukerjea to the Khar Police station for further interrogation.
7. Senior journalist Vir Sanghvi has claimed that Indrani, a former colleague at INX, which became News X Media, had confided to him that her stepfather Upendra Bora had molested her as a child. He said Indrani’s biological father had left home when she was a child. Her mother married his brother Upendra soon after and “refused to protect her from him”. There is another theory going around that Upendra might be Sheena’s biological father, which he has denied. Upendra has said Sheena and Mikhail were children of Indrani’s first husband Siddhartha Das.

8. Mumbai Police chief Rakesh Maria, who is personally helming the probe, has said Sheena Bora’s passport has been found. This rubbishes Indrani’s claims that she had packed off Sheena to the US.
9. Meanwhile, former STAR India chief and Indrani’s present husband Peter Mukerjea has told police he should have taken his son Rahul seriously when he warned him that Indrani might be hiding a lot of things from him. Peter has maintained that he believed his wife 9.9/10 times on domestic matters. He also said Sheena had told him she was the daughter and not Indrani’s sister. There is skepticism among police whether Peter Mukerjea was really in the dark as he claims to be.
10. It is learnt Indrani persuaded the employee of a firm she was associated with to forge Sheena’s signature on her resignation letter and another to her landlord ending the tenancy lease. At the time of her death, Sheena was working with Mumbai Metro One Private Limited. The reason behind the resignation was “personal”, a police source has said. The letter to the landlord said Sheena was moving abroad for better prospects.
11. A website has claimed that a “lonely and failing” Peter wanted to come back to India from the UK and take a last shot at the media business. Peter reportedly confided to a friend that this had angered Indrani who was not keen on coming back. Another point of friction between the duo was Vidhie Mukerjea – Indrani’s daughter by Sanjeev Khanna whom Peter had legally adopted. Indrani felt Vidhie’s social life was “going haywire”.
12. Sheena’s lover Rahul is in a bit of a spot today because he claims Sheena’s passport is with him. How did Sheena go to the US then? And why did he not pursue this with Indrani more persistently? He has told police that Indrani always threw a fit when he asked how Sheena had gone to the US when the passport was with him. Rahul has also told police that the duo got engaged in December 2011. The ceremony happened in Rahul’s mother Shabnam’s Dehradun house. Reports quoting Dehradun neighbours state Rahul had become a reserved person after 2012 and kept to his mother’s 20-acre home. He had aspirations to be a model and an actor but he returned to Dehradun in 2012.
