Ishant Sharma, 3 Sri Lankan players charged 'for breaching ICC Code of Conduct'

Colombo: Three Sri Lankan players and one Indian have been charged for misconduct during the ongoing third Test, with details to be revealed after the match, the International Cricket Council said on Tuesday.

India's fast bowler Ishant Sharma and the Sri Lankan trio of Dhammika Prasad, Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne were involved in a heated flare-up during the fourth day's play on Monday in Colombo.

"Chandimal, Sharma, Thirimanne & Prasad charged for breaching ICC Code of Conduct. Details to be announced after the conclusion of the Test," said ICC.

During fourth day’s play, Ishant Sharma and the three Sri Lankan cricketers were involved in an on-field altercation. While Chandimal was involved in a body contact, Prasad and Thirimanne exchanged a volley of words with Ishant Sharma on Monday.

As Sharma hurried off the field after the Indian innings ended, Prasad sprinted behind him and television pictures showed the two players speaking to each other outside the dressing rooms.

Sharma, who was fined 65 percent of his match fee for misconduct during the second Test, vented his anger with the ball and celebrations after scalping two Sri Lanka wickets as their second innings began.
