BENGALURU: The sleuths of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested a 31-year-old man who allegedly managed to get job in software companies by using stolen marks card belonging to a software engineer. Besides, he had also got loan from banks using the PAN Card number of the same person. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Irfan, a resident of Ganganagar in R T Nagar. He was working as Quality Manager in a reputed IT firm.

According to the police, the complainant Ravi Shankar Sharma, who works in a reputed software company in Hyderabad, approached the police saying that an unknown person had got two credit cards and a loan in his name. He had approached a bank for loan but the bank refused to sanction the loan citing that he was a defaulter. Shocked by this, he checked his credit worthiness with Credit Information Bureau Limited (CIBIL) and it was found that two credit cards were issued by two different private banks and also a loan was sanctioned by a finance company.

“The person using these two cards had defaulted on the payment of dues. As Mr. Shama’s grievance was not redressed even after he approached the two private banks, RBI had advised him to approach police. Based on his complaint, the investigation was started and it was found that the two credit cards and loan were linked to a salary account of Convergys India Services Ltd., in the name of Ravi Shankar Sharma. The employee had the same father’s name and PAN card number that of the complainant. The employee of Convergys working in the name of Ravi Shankar Sharma was questioned and he confessed that, he is actually Mohammed Irfan,” the police explained.

“Irfan, who hails from Goa had shifted to Hubli along with his mother. After passing his Class 10, he discontinued his Diploma due to financial constraints. He started looking for a job in Bengaluru but could not find a suitable one due to lack of educational qualification. In 2008, he got in touch with Ravi Shankar Sharma while attending an interview. When they went our for coffee after the interview, Irfan managed to get the marks card, resume, pan card and other documents of Mr. Sharma. Using the stolen testimonials, he first got a job in Mphasis and later at Convergys in the name of Ravi Shankar Sharma,” the police said.

“Irfan has an election ID, PAN card and Aadhar card in his name. Later, he also managed to get a PAN card bearing the same number of the PAN card of Mr. Sharma but with his photo. His neighbours in Ganganagar know him at Irfan but at the work place he is known as Ravi Sharma or Ravi Shankar Sharma,” the police added.
