"It's Sourav who brought me here and I'm seeing him as an administrator for last one year. He's trying his best to take Bengal cricket forward.

"It's a great selection and a positive sign for the Indian cricket," Laxman, who's here as the batting consultant for Bengal Ranji team, told reporters on the sidelines of their practice.

Echoing the same sentiments, Bengal Ranji coach Sairaj Bahutule said Ganguly has got leadership qualities, something that would really help after taking over as the CAB boss.

"I've played under his captaincy and he has a natural instinct to take wise decision under any circumstances. I'm sure he will do well as a CAB president," Bahutule said.

The CAB joint secretary, Ganguly, was on Thursday unanimously chosen to be the next CAB president after the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya who passed away after a massive cardiac arrest on Sunday.

CAB will hold a condolence meeting on September 30, while Dalmiya's 'Shraddh' (concluding rituals) will be held on October 2.
