A meaty makeover
Anson Paul is excited about the film working in which he says has been a great learning experience
After a short hiatus, the handsome Anson Paul is back to Mollywood with Ranjth Sankar’s next directorial venture Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam. He was last seen in the movie KQ in 2013. Anson who is quite excited about his comeback says, “After KQ, I didn’t get any promising offers from Malayalam. But, I got one movie in Tamil. I was acting in it and then Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam happened. It was Jayettan whom I had met before, who suggested me for the role of Vijay Babu. I accepted the offer as I thought it was a good comeback offer.”
Unlike his previous characters, Anson is donning a mature role in Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam. “It is the first time that I’m doing a mature character on screen. Vijay Babu is in his late 30s; I had to put on weight to get the proper look,” he says, adding that it was a little difficult for him to get into the skin of Vijay Babu.
“I felt like acting as someone else. It took me a while to connect with the character, but the whole experience of working with the team was good. Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam helped me widen my perspective about acting. It was a great learning experience.”
Anson has combination scenes with Jayasurya. His character owns the school where Sudhi (Jayasurya’s character) is working. “Both the characters are mutually inspiring. It is a very positive character,” he explains.
Though there are offers in pipeline post Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam, Anson is yet to confirm one. Meanwhile, he has acted in a bilingual song directed by his friend and actor-turned-director Rajith Menon. The song, titled Anbendraale Amma and With Love, Maa, in Tamil and Hindi respectively, will be released on November 14, Children’s Day.
“The song depicts the mother-son relationship. The song is meant for youngsters of this generation, who find little time to spend with their parents. No matter how busy we are, we must find some time for our parents. This is what we convey through this song,” says Anson, who appears as Zarina Wahab’s son in the song.
“I am very much attached to my mother and hence when Rajith told me about this concept, I readily agreed to do it,” says the actor, who is currently practising martial arts. “I am learning Muay Thai now. I’m doing this as part of my fitness regime. It may help me do fight scenes in movies too. I have plans to move to Kerala as I am looking forward to acting in more Malayalam films,” he signs off.
