British Deputy High Commission would be opening a Visa Application Centre
Visakhapatnam: United Kingdom (UK) has extended its expertise in development of smart cities in AP, academic collaborations with local institutions and in the construction of new capital city – Amaravati.
At an interactive session organised by the Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) here on Friday, deputy head of mission at British Deputy High Commission, Hyde-rabad and head of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), Abhilash Puzhakara, said, “UK is ahead of many countries and can help Indian cities, especially in Andhra Pradesh to make them smart cities using latest technology. “Discussions are also on to promote collaborations between UK and Andhra Pradesh-based educational institutions and if things work out, JNTU-Kakinada and JNTU-Anantapur are likely to team up with UK-based universities,” he added.
Mr Abhilash reminded that UK Prime Minister David Cameron had earlier said that for Britain, India is a ‘Partner of Choice’. He further said that UK is the best place for research, innovation and growth in the world, taking it way ahead of the US and Singapore.

APCCIF vice-president G. Sambasiva Rao explained about the business opportunities for UK companies in Andhra Pradesh with its 972 km coastline.
Mr Sambasiva Rao pointed out that being a new state, Andhra Pradesh offers a variety of investment and collaboration opportunities for the foreign companies.
