Samantha’s uncle found dead in Chennai

Chennai: South Indian actress Samantha’s maternal uncle was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his office in Pallavaram here on Monday. Police sources said Andy Morris (58), a resident of Pallavaram, was working as manager in a private travel agency. He is the brother of the actress’ mother Ninette Prabhu.

On Monday around 6 pm, staff in the office checked in the manager’s room after a foul smell started emanating from inside. “Mr Morris was allotted a separate room to stay in his office. He usually stays in the office after work and was last seen by the office staff on Saturday. On Monday morning, the staff returned to work and was of the assumption that the manager was on leave. It was only after the bad smell that they were alarmed,” an investigating officer said.

Pallavaram police rushed to the scene and secured Morris’ body. “He was lying unconscious on the bed when we reached. We have shifted the body to Chromepet government hospital for post mortem,” the officer added.

The cause of death is unknown. Preliminary investigation suggested death due to cardiac arrest. “There are no external injuries on his body or signs of struggle. We are awaiting the preliminary post-mortem results which would be available on Tuesday,” a police officer said. Andy Morris is reportedly separated from his family.
