Video| ‘Morne Morkel, did you Skype your wife, train hard?’
Mumbai: The South African cricket team, in their ongoing India tour, have been filming experiences across cities. When the team arrived for the third one-dayer at Rajkot, AB de Villiers’ boys were taken aback with the reception at the hotel.
The staff ensured there were personalised coffee mugs for the cricketers, the gesture bowled them over.
Talking about the experience in the centre of Saurashtra, speedster Morne Morkel declared how elated he was to find their posters inside the hotels, the billboards on the streets.
“We could not get out of the hotel, the staff made us feel at home,” says speedster Morne Morkel.
And then, came the coffee mugs.
“There are some old and young pictures, some have lost weight too. When I wake up in the morning, I look at the mug and ask questions: ‘Morne, did you train hard enough yesterday?’ ‘Morne, did you Skype your wife?’
“And when I don’t feel like talking to Chris Morris, I would just hold the mug and tell him, talk to the face,” Morne added.
“I’m not a morning person but to wake up to this picture (pointing to his photograph wearing the South Africa jersey), absolutely outstanding,” said Morris.
