Actress Meenakshi slaps assistant director
We have heard of directors slapping heroines, but it was the other way around in the case of Meenakshi of Karuppasamy Kutthagaitharar fame, who slapped an assistant director Shankar. He reportedly fainted at the shooting of her upcoming flick Naer Mugam at Film City. As the unit was getting ready for the next shot, Meenakshi saw that Shankar was chatting with his friends in sign language. The actress, who was seated at a distance, misunderstood that he was mocking her. Furious, Meenakshi beckoned Shankar to approach her. The moment he came close, sources say Meenakshi abused him and slapped him hard — he reportedly fainted.
Stunned with her unexpected act, the members of the crew came running towards Meenakshi and an eyewitness said that she also received one or two blows from them. Scared of the repercussions, the actress ran into her vanity van. But the technicians were in no mood to spare her. They locked the caravan from outside and were banging the door in anger.
The shooting was stopped and chaos ensued, with everyone shouting and demanding a public apology from Meenakshi. Sensing that things were going out of control, the actress then agreed to tender an apology and took a piece of paper from the caravan and wrote a letter apologising for her act. In the note, she said that she felt extremely sorry about her hasty act and that there won’t be any further problem from her side. She also requested them to allow her to continue the day’s shoot. After she produced the letter, the shooting resumed and Meenakshi completed the scene and left the place in a jiffy.
