Hyderabad: Amidst all the backlash and fury against actor Aamir Khan on social media, traces of wife Kiran Rao’s link to the Telangana region are slowly emerging. A common thread between Kiran Rao and this region can be found in actress Aditi Rao Hydari.
According to reports, Hydari’s maternal grandfather, J. Rameshwar Rao was the Raja of Wanaparthy — now a considerably large town within Mahbubnagar of Telangana. And generations later, Aditi Rao counts Aamir Khan’s wife, Kiran Rao, as her first maternal cousin.
The two have been rarely seen in public but share a cordial relationship. In a 2012 interview to a magazine, Hydari had said she and Rao had been unable to meet frequently due to “hectic schedules”.
“My family is particular about not throwing their weight around. My paternal and maternal sides are well-educated and liberal, which is why they don’t harp on their royal status,” she was quoted as saying. Hydari, however, remained unavailable for comment on Wednesday.
