Video| IND vs SA, Third Test: ‘Batsmen go for hundreds, I go for fifers’
Nagpur: India’s star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin — who won the Man of the Match award for his match haul of 12 wickets against South Africa in the third Test here — believes any batsman who trusts his defense can do well against spinners.
The Test match, that ended within three days, also saw Ashwin claim his 15th five-wicket haul.

“A batsman goes out there to get a hundred and I go out there to get five wickets,” he said.

The spinner also praised South Africa batsmen Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis for their resistance in between.
“The way Faf and Amla played, we had to put some good balls. One team was trying to fight, one team was trying to win. I thought Amit (Mishra) bowled a wonderful spell after lunch, we prized out a couple of wickets in that post-lunch session.
“Most importantly, we’ve won against the most important side of the world. Maintaining discipline was really important today,” he added.
