While South Africa lost the Test series 3-0, the visiting team’s skipper Hashim Amla was all class as he assessed his team’s performance and lauding Virat Kohli-led India’s display.

When asked about his own effort, the South African skipper shrugged it off and lauded the effort his batsmen put in, saying, "We knew we had to bat long and hard, we tried our exceptional best, AB had a fantastic effort.”

“You got to do what is best for the team, it is not easy to go out there and get some runs, but we tried to take it as deep as possible, get something from this game,” added Amla.

Amla was generous in his praise of Virat Kohli-led side. He said, “Unfortunately we were outplayed by India throughout the whole series, they batted and bowled better than us.”

While South Africa lost the Test series 3-0, they defeated India in T20 and ODI series ahead of four-match Test series.

Discussing Proteas’ performance in coloured clothings, Amla said, “Winning the T20s and the ODIs was brilliant.”

While it was a tough series for South African batsmen batters as they could not get enough runs. Amla praised seamers’ performance on spinner-friendly wickets.

"We could not manage to get enough runs, credit to our seamers on these pitches, just unfortunate we could not get the runs to back them up," concluded Amla.
