Who is Delhi principal secretary Rajendra Kumar?

CBI raided Arvind Kejriwal's Principal Secretary for alleged graft case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided the office of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar in alleged graft case after which a war of words broke out between Kejriwal government and the Centre.

Few facts about Rajendra Kumar:

Senior IAS officer Rajendra Kumar was appointed as the Principal Secretary of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in February, 2015.

Like Kejriwal, Kumar is also an IIT-Delhi alumnus. He was also the secretary in Urban Development Department and handled other departments including Power and Transport.

Kumar, who is 1989 batch IAS officer, was also secretary to Kejriwal during his previous sting as CM.

Kumar's office was raided following complaints made to CBI that certain private companies were benefiting in all posts where he was deployed over the last 5 years.

According to reports, Ashish Joshi, a member secretary of Delhi Dialogue Commission, filed a complaint alleging that Kumar, as Director of Education (from May, 2002 to February, 2005) and later Secretary (IT), Secretary (Health) and Commissioner (VAT), had set up various companies to allot government work orders without tenders that caused ‘financial loss’ to the city's government.

Joshi also alleged that all IT related work and SAP licence for more than Rs 50 crores were pushed through. He further alleged that a chain of companies were formed between 2009 and 2014 in the fields of energy, real estate, coaching with Ashok Kumar as a common director in these companies.

It is learnt that most of these companies have common addresses and common directors — some are relatives of Rajender Kumar.
