Former MP minister Laxmikant Sharma, accused in Vyapam scam, released on bail
New Delhi: Vyapam scam-accused former higher and technical education minister Laxmikant Sharma was released on bail today.
Sharma was to be released from Bhopal central jail on Saturday but because of the delay in fulfilling formalities, the process was delayed.
The former minister is among the highest government functionaries to be jailed in the widespread exam-rigging scandal that has seen the killing of dozens under mysterious circumstances since the probe into the scam began.
The former minister was an accused in seven cases related to the job recruitment and admissions scam. He was earlier granted bail in six cases. His bail in the last case, however, was granted on Thursday.
Meanwhile, another key accused in the scam and former officer on special duty to governor Ram Naresh Yadav, Dhanraj Yadav, was released on bail on Saturday.
