Jaish-e-Mohammad celebrates Pathankot attack

Maulana Masood Azhar mocks at India, celebrates Pathankot attack in audiotape.

New Delhi/Pathankot: Even as Indian agencies had shared evidence with Pakistan of call intercepts of the four “handlers” of the Pathankot attack based in that country and identifying them as Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) head Maulana Masood Azhar, Asfaq Ahmed, Hafiz Abdul Shakur and Kashim Jan, the JeM on Friday released a tape celebrating the predawn attack on the Indian Air Force base.

In the audiotape, Azhar while congratulating the attackers, said, “Indians who kill unarmed Muslims are now dragging their own dead.”

The taped message comes amidst Pakistan Prime Minister ordering full investigations into the Pathankot attack.

The audiotape also mocks at the India Army with Azhar allegedly saying, “Despite India claiming to have sophisticated tanks and other warfare material, even after 48 hours of the Pathankot attack, India hasn’t been able to figure out their numbers or their path. (sic)”

Meanwhile, the “insider role” in the cross-border terror conspiracy leading up to the Pathankot airbase attack is not being ruled out yet, with the National Investigation Agency's probe directed at ascertaining any lapses that may have led to the attack, besides the role of “local help” in aiding the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists who crossed over from Pakistan to carry out the audacious siege at the IAF base.

The NIA has also summoned Punjab SP Salwinder Singh to New Delhi for questioning on Monday in the wake of some discrepancies in his statement to the NIA and Punjab police following his claims of alleged abduction by the terrorists.

Gurdaspur SP may undergo NIA’s lie test
The National Investigation Agency on Thursday issued summons to the Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police, who was allegedly abducted by terrorists involved in Pathankot attack, to appear before it on Monday for detailed interrogation.

Sources added that SP Salvinder Singh may undergo a lie-detector test.

Meanwhile, the probe agency has picked up some footprints in the fields of a border village and the IAF base here and sent them to Central forensic lab for matching.
