Five top telecom operators under-reported their revenue: CAG
Under-reporting of revenue has caused govt short payment of Rs 7,697.6 crore.
Mumbai: The Comptroller and Auditor General has nailed private telecom operators in its annual audit report for the sectoral players who did not fully reveal their revenues.
CAG has alleged in its report that telcos had under-reported their revenue between 2010-11 and 2014-15. The under-reporting of revenue these telcos has caused a short payment of Rs 7,697.6 crore to government, CAG said.
According to the central auditor, India's private telecom operators under-reported revenues of Rs 61,064.5 crore or around $9 billion between 2010-11 and and 2014-15.
