What is so sensuous about hitting a girl on her midriff: Taapsee asks K R Rao

The director, K Raghavendra Rao, launched Taapsee Pannu in his Telegu film 'Jhummandi Naadam'.

Mumbai: Taapsee Pannu, who has tasted immense success with Bollywood hits ‘Pink’ and ‘Naam Shabana’, debuted back in 2010 with K Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Jhummandi Naadam’ and has since made a name for herself with remarkable performances.

But the actress doesn’t seem to be too happy with a somewhat odd tradition her first director pulled off on her. In a chat show, the actress revealed that she was hit by a coconut on the midriff during the shooting of ‘Jhummandi…’ and she hasn’t been able to figure out as to how Rao thought it would come across as sensuous.

“I don’t know what is so sensuous about hitting a girl on her midriff. But the director who has made over 100 films has launched Sridevi and Jayasudha. They were apparently hit by flowers and fruits on their midriff,” said Taapsee.

Taapsee also spoke about how she was typecast as a glam doll down South. Her recent outings, however, have changed that perception.

For the uninitiated, Pannu started her career with Tollywood film ‘Jhummandi Naadam’ where she starred opposite Manoj Manchu and played the character of an NRI girl. The film was produced by Lakshmi Manchu.

Other than Bollywood action-comedy ‘Judwaa 2’ alongside Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez, the pretty actress will soon be seen in Telegu film ‘Anando Brahma, which is a horror comedy also featuring Vennela Kishore in the lead and is slated to release in August.
