FIR filed for Akshay Kumar's PadMan, movie faces plagiarism charges
Mumbai: Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ released yesterday, and while many have loved the film, it looks like the movie has already called for trouble.
Ripu Daman Jaiswal has charged the makers with a charge of plagiarism. He claims that he had written the script and sent it to Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and somehow the script is exactly the same as ‘Padman’s.
Ripu tried to raise his voice in December last year, but nothing much could be said or done till the movie releases. But now that ‘Padman’ has hit the theatres, Ripu pointed out many similarities between his script and the movie’s script.
He asked for help with a good lawyer in December as he had written and registered the script, and still he claims that it was stolen for ‘Padman’. Here’s his post:
But in his latest tweet, he mentioned that Amitabh Bachchan has narrated the exact same dialogue as is in his script. Along with a photo of the script, he tweeted:
I remember I was in the library when I wrote this dialogue and was truly elated. Honestly, I surprised myself that day. Tell me, how on earth can you steal someone’s dialogue?

This is unfair.

And then he finally decided that he couldn’t take it anymore and needed the interference of court as he felt 11 scenes have been copied from his script. Here’s the tweet before he registered an FIR:
Intermission of PadMan. 11 scenes has been copied from my script uptil now and even one of the character. That’s it. I am definitely going to court.

The alleged writer has now filed an FIR, as he feels that the script has been lifted without having his due.
Directed by R. Balki, ‘Padman’ also stars Sonam Kapoor, Radhika Apte in pivotal roles and Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo appearance.
