Watch: Madhur Bhandarkar's Indu Sarkar trailer is riveting and engaging
Mumbai: Madhur Bhandarkar, known for his gritty themes and subjects, is back at what he does best. And if one is to go by the first trailer of the national award winning director's next, 'Indu Sarkar,' the actor has delivered a riveting new film.
The film, headlining Kirti Kulhari, still fresh from the massive critical acclaim of 'Pink,' also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh in a role modeled on Sanjay Gandhi.
The theme, set to the backdrop of the infamous 1975 Emergency Period, has a housemaker with a speech impediment rebelling against the system, at its merciless, violent best.
Also starring Anupam Kher, Parvin Dabas and Tota Roy Chowdhary, the film touches upon sensitive issues, mostly hitherto untouched.
The film, Madhur's follow up to his forgettable 'Calendar Girls,' is slated to July 28.
