Kirti Kulhari enters big league with Madhur Bhandarkar's next Indu Sarkar'
Mumbai: If Falak Ali wooed you with her calm-yet-gutsy demeanour, wait until you watch her don the avatar of Indu in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Indu Sarkar’ based on India’s 21-month state of Emergency. Kirti will be playing a girl with speech impediment.
When asked about her role in the film, a visibly excited Kirti said, “Indu is raised in an orphanage and has a stammering problem but loves to write and read poetry… After ‘Pink’, I wanted to do something that would challenge me further as an actor. We want to create the same impact as Tabu’s turn in ‘Chandni Bar’ with my character.”
Kirti took to Twitter to share the good news with her fans. Flashing the victory sign, both Kirti and Bhandarkar looked happy about this professional association.
She wrote: “#imbhandarkar thank u..#So looking forward to the challenge "Indu Sarkar".. Lots to do.Lots to learn.Super excited#Let's do it.”
The National award-winning Director, on the other hand, is leaving no stone unturned to get the plot right. He has drowned himself in extensive research work which ranges from visiting the Nehru museum to meeting veteran politicians like L K Advani. The ‘Fashion’ Director is spending a lot of time with writers like Coomi Kapoor and Kuldip Nayar, who have vast knowledge on the subject and have written books named ‘The Emergency: A Personal History’ and ‘The Judgement: Inside Story of the Emergency in India’ respectively.
Kirti will start preparing for the part once she is back from her Andaman holiday.
