Arjun-Parineeti step into Akshay-Katrina's shoes, to star in Namastey Canada
Mumbai: Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra made their presence felt in Bollywood with the 2012 love story ‘Ishaqzaade’.
Despite the success of the film, the pair did not work with each other for five years, but are now set to work together in not one but two films.
After it was confirmed that the duo would be coming together for Yash Raj Films’ Dibakar Banerjee directorial 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar', Arjun and Parineeti have signed another film, ‘Namastey Canada’.
The title might instantly remind you of the Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Namastey London’ that has released in 2007.
While this film will also be directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the filmmaker says that it is not sequel to the successful romantic drama. Shah also went on to thank Akshay despite recent reports claiming that he refused to give the naming rights, prompting Shah to rename the film from earlier ‘Namastey England’ to ‘Namastey Canada.’
Shah told The Times of India, “I want to set the record straight. 'Namastey Canada' is not a sequel to 'Namastey London'. I thank Akshay for standing by me and being graceful about sharing the title with me. I'm also happy that Arjun and Parineeti agreed to join me on this journey. I hope this film becomes one of their best outings together.”
Arjun said, "I'm excited to be a part of this project. After working with giants like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, he has chosen me. 'Namastey Canada' has heart and humour, making it a family entertainer."
Parineeti also shared Arjun’s excitement, "This is exactly the film I was looking for! It's a desi story with a videshi heart. I'm excited to be directed by Vipul sir with who I have shared an amazing friendship over the last few years."
It is not clear though, if the pair would start ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ or ‘Namastey Canada’ first, but fans would be excited to watch the pair in back-to-back films after so long.
