Virushka reception: Salman, Aamir, Akshay, Ranveer, Deepika's absence raises eyebrows

Mumbai: It was quite an eventful day on 26^th December, especially thanks to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s Mumbai reception.

The reception was graced by the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Rekha, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Karan Johar, Kangana Ranaut, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit amongst others.

Shah Rukh Khan launched Anushka in the industry with 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' and he did his bit by making the reception extra special with his dance moves. The actress became close to Priyanka during the shooting of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. The reception would probably be a dud if it didn’t have her favourite co-actor Ranbir in it. She has worked in an advertisement with Sidharth and will soon be starting her ‘Sui Dhaaga’ shoot with Varun Dhawan.

There were other celebrities who have also influenced her life, but they gave the reception a miss. Here’s who they were:

1. Salman Khan

Salman turns 52 in style with Katrina, Dhoni, others by his side

Salman and Anushka have a big hit in their 2016 release ‘Sultan’. So it was quite surprising to not see Salman at the venue. But we wouldn’t really blame Bhaijaan, because he was probably preparing for his birthday which took place right after the reception.

2. Aamir Khan

They worked together in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’ and shared a cordial relationship. But Aamir wrapped up ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’ and is back in Mumbai today. He sent Salman a happy birthday tweet, but sadly no special gesture for Virushka.

3. Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar is in Cape Town since Christmas, as he plans to celebrate wife Twinkle Khanna’s birthday and then come back to Mumbai.

4. Ranveer Singh

Anushka’s much-spoken-about ex Ranveer Singh showed his social media support when the actress made her marriage public. But when it was time for her Mumbai reception, Ranveer was in London. He in fact came back to Mumbai today, a day after the reception. Sounds fishy?

5. Deepika Padukone

A day prior to the reception, Deepika secretly took off to Vienna. The actress was so wrong if she thought she could go into hiding. And leaving at the exact time the reception was going to be held raises more doubts.

6. Jacqueline Fernandez

Remember how she almost revealed that Anushka is married? Yeah the actress very well knew. But she left for Doha at the exact same time when the reception was going to be held. We wonder why?

7. Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor, reported to be Anushka’s ex, posted a selfie with wifey Mira and daughter Misha. Deepika even liked this selfie. Was he not invited or did he want to skip the event?

8. Vidya Balan

Both Siddharth Roy Kapur and Aditya Roy Kapur were spotted at the reception, sans Vidya. Vidya happens to be Shahid’s ex-flame. It was being reported that Shahid was dating Anushka after leaving Vidya. Was that the reason ‘The Dirty Picture’ actress was nowhere to be seen?

9. Alia Bhatt

Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Sidharth Malhotra were a part of the celebrations. Alia and Anushka too share a cordial relationship. But it still looks like sleep comes before anything for Alia, who has left for a holiday in London today.

10. Sushant Singh Rajput and Sonakshi Sinha

In spite of his ‘Kedarnath’ co-actress Sara Ali Khan and rumoured flame Kriti Sanon being present at the event, Sushant was never spotted. Sonakshi’s rumoured ex-boyfriend Bunty Sajdeh happens to be Virat’s manager. Was that the reason Sona skipped Anushka’s reception and headed straight to celebrate Salman’s birthday?

Apart from these, Anushka’s contemporaries Shraddha Kapoor, currently shooting for ‘Saaho’, Sonam Kapoor, spending time with Anand Ahuja, Imran Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Parineeti Chopra, who is shooting for ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’, too, did not grace the special occasion.
