Poor reviews but Baaghi emerges as 3rd highest opener of 2016

Mumbai: 'Baaghi' starring Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor has got off to a good start at the box office despite critics unanimously panning the movie. The film, which released in a total of 2750 screens across India and 344 screens abroad, earned Rs 11.87 cr on the opening day.

The film has emerged as the third highest opener of 2016, after Shah Rukh Khan's 'Fan' which earned Rs 19.20 cr and Akshay Kumar's 'Airlift' which raked in Rs 12.35 cr.

'Baaghi' directed by Sabbir Khan shattered few records at the overseas box office as well. The collections of the film was higher than '2 States', 'ABCD 2' and was three times that of what Tiger Shroff’s first film 'Heropanti' had earned.

The film revolves around Shraddha, who plays a rebellious girl, meets Tiger, who also carries a rebellious streak and nonetheless spark fly between them. Enter Telugu actor Sudheer Babu, the antagonist, who takes Shraddha captive owing to his obsessive love for her.

The film has been in the news for its high octane action sequences and sizzling chemistry between the lead pair and it has definitely lived up to the hype that it had generated over the months.
