Who can forget Kattappa, the slave warrior role made memorable by veteran Sathyaraj in Baahubali? After the film’s release, the 60-year-old actor was called ‘Kattappa’ wherever he went! Now to cash in on the character’s popularity, Sathyaraj’s son Sibiraj’s upcoming flick has been titled Kattappavae Kaanom. The movie has Aishwarya Rajesh of Kakka Muttai fame playing the female lead.
When DC contacted debut director Mani, a former assistant to Arivazhagan and Nandhini to know more about the intriguing title, he said, “It is an out-an-out comedy flick. There is an important character and we needed a reputed name to play him — even as we were discussing it, Sibi entered and suggested ‘Why not Kattappa?’. We thought it was really apt and used it, which eventually became the title.” (laughs)
While Sibi plays an aspiring entrepreneur in the city-based film KK, Aishwarya who essays his wife is a happy-go-lucky girl who supports her husband in his endeavours, he adds. We hear that the actress Aishwarya has as much screen time as the hero!
