Rajkamal's delayed film hits marquee
Popular small screen actor Rajkamal is a relieved man these days. His long pending movie Melnaattu Marumagan, lying in cans for a while due to financial constraints, is finally hitting the marquee on February 16 on a clutch of screens.
As the title suggests, the film directed by MSS is a story of a boy in the neighbourhood of Mahabalipuram who is bent upon marrying a foreigner for the reason that he is fond of fair skinned females and better prospects.
Andri Ann, a French model living in India in Pondicherry for almost 20 years, has been roped in to play opposite Rajkamal. And she says that Franco-Indian character she essays in the movie is what she is in real life.
Talking to DC, Rajkamal says, “I was introduced by none other than legend K. Balachander sir in a mega soap Sahana and did many serials in his banner. But acting in films is always my passion and on advice from a senior filmmaker, I stopped signing serials. It was around the same time that I got this film offer when director MSS was looking for a guy with next door looks.”
Unfortunately, MM was mired in financial problems and the release was delayed. He adds, “After seeing my stills in MM, I got the opportunity to play the lead in Chandikuthirai which has already hit the theatres.” The actor is hoping to break the jinx with MM's release this week and he also has two more films in his kitty.
