Choreographer/actor/ filmmaker Raghava Lawrence, who sort of started the horror comedy genre trend in Tamil cinema with his Muni and Kanchana series is all set to enthrall us with yet another horror movie. He has been roped in to play the lead protagonist in the remake of super hit Kannada horror thriller Shivalinga, that had Shivarajkumar in the lead. Ace P. Vasu who directed the original, will be wielding the megaphone for Tamil as well. Apparently, he is toying with the idea of naming it Chandramukhi 2!
As we know, Chandramukhi, the horror entertainer, which was released in 2005 featuring Superstar Rajinikanth and Jyothika in the lead and directed by P.Vasu, was a blockbuster and set several records. Close sources say that efforts were made to rope in Rajinikanth for the Shivalinga remake, which didn’t materialise due to various reasons, and that’s when Lawrence stepped in. Another big development is that Vadivelu, who is making a comeback after a huge gap, has been brought on board for C2. After all, the veteran comedian’s role in Chandramukhi garnered a cult following!
Confirming the news to DC, Lawrence said, “I watched the original and I loved the subject and have given my nod to act in Shivalinga remake. Yes, I will be sharing screen space with Vadivelu sir. As far as the title is concerned, I am not sure, but I heard the makers are considering naming it Chandramukhi 2.”
We hear that either Anushka or Hansika will be seen romancing Lawrence in the film. “I have no clue about it. When a big director like Vasu sir is helming the affair, he knows whom to cast. If it is my film, I can take a call,” he signs off with a smile!
