Gautham Karthik, son of veteran actor Karthik started his career with a bang by playing the lead role in Mani Ratnam’s Kadal. However, he vanished from the Kollywood circuit after few lacklustre projects. Now, with more than four films lying in the cans and delayed — including Sippai and Indrajith — the actor who has resolved to choose only good scripts, has teamed up with Kannan, a former associate of Mani Ratnam, who has worked with the likes of Arya and Jiiva.
The untitled flick started rolling today with a formal pooja. The first schedule commences in the city on September 12.
Sources said the film has been titled Thanthiran, based on the character Gautham plays in the movie. Reportedly, the Vai Raja Vai actor essays a street-smart boy who uses his intelligence and wit to overcome problems. Rumours are rife that Anupama Parameswaran of Premam fame, who is currently acting alongside Dhanush in Kodi, has been considered for the female lead.
