Kodi will be a milestone in my career: Kaali Venkat
Kaali Venkat has been acting as a character artist in several hit films since his debut in 2010. His role as a drunken father in Madhavan’s comeback film, Irudhi Suttru, won several accolades. The actor is now eagerly awaiting the release of Durai Senthil Kumar’s Kodi, where Dhanush will be seen in dual roles.
Speaking to DC, Venkat says, “I essay the role of Dhanush’s childhood friend in the movie, and I have scenes with both the characters that the actor plays. I am not the usual friend that you see in films; in fact, I’m not the side-kick either! My character is extremely loyal and it doesn’t have any scope for comedy. After Irudhi Suttru, Kodi will be a milestone in my career.”
The Thegidi actor considers acting with Dhanush, a real learning experience — “After Maari, I finally got to play a meaty role in Kodi. I spent nearly 40 days with Dhanush sir and watching him up close opened up my mind. I was able to learn a lot of things from him. Except for the romantic scenes, I will be seen throughout the film.”
Venkat is also happy that he gets to play diverse roles in his upcoming films, “For the first time in my career, I will be part of a dark-comedy film titled Kattapava Kaanum. The movie has come out well.” He also has Yenaku Vaaitha Adimaigal, Nagesh Thiraiyarangam, and an untitled venture with Mundasupatti Ramkumar.
