Vishwaroopam 2 is again on track!
Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam, which hit theatres in 2013, broke box-office records to become one of the highest-grossers that year. The film also courted controversy when several reports claimed that it showed the Muslim community in a bad light. However, it overcame the hurdles and became a hit. Starring Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Rahul Bose in the lead roles, the film was bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International.
The second part of Vishwaroopam, which was put on the backburner due to financial constraints, is now said to be kicking again — finally! When we contacted Rajesh M Selva, a close associate of Kamal Haasan, he said, “The entire crew is happy as we have begun the post-production work of Vishwaroopam 2. The work is spread across the world with the sound design progressing at Los Angeles. We have also started the dubbing and sound-mixing work for the project.” Composer Ghibran also tweeted that he has started working on the project.
Vishwaroopam 2 was jointly produced by Aascar Ravichandran and Kamal Haasan. When the former was stuck in financial troubles, it came as a huge blow to Kamal and his ardent fans. There have been several measures to buy the film from Ravichandran, but nothing seems to have materialised. Now, that the film’s work has resumed and it might see the light of day soon enough.
