I am ready for Kabali sequel: Kalaipuli S Thanu
Kabali, starring Rajinikanth, Radhika Apte, and Dhansika hit theatres on July 22 and shattered the box-office records big time. Within two days of its release, talks of a possible Kabali sequel have already cropped up. Speaking to DC, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu says, “We created an open-ended climax for Kabali. So, director Ranjith and I are interested in a sequel for this gangster flick. However, Rajinikanth will have to give us the nod to carry on. The film’s collections indicate that it is a sensational hit, and has surpassed all records.”
According to Thanu, North India’s box-office collections have been on the rise since July 22. “First day collections are close to Rs 4.5 crores, followed by Rs 5.5 crores on the second day. The film minted approximately Rs 7 crores yesterday,” he added.
Reports surfaced that the film will be trimmed by 12 minutes, Monday onwards. However, Thanu refuted these rumours saying, “The film is a blockbuster hit and we have no intention of trimming it. When the film is a hit, what is the need to trim it?”
According to sources, Kabali made Rs 200 crores in the pre-release business thereby gaining profit even before the film released. Now, with record box-office figures, Kabali is turning out to be a highly successful production venture for Thanu.
