Cinema isn’t new to AR Rahman’s family. Being a sister to the Oscar winner and a mother to composer GV Prakash, AR Reihana has carved a place for herself in the industry as a singer and a composer. Now, Reihana is all set to venture into production (Yogi and Partner production house) with host-actor-director Vignesh Karthik’s Yenda Thailaiku Yenna Vekkala.
When quizzed about her decision of venturing into production, an elated Reihana says, “My friends were searching for someone in the field who could help them. I also wanted to produce a film because I would be able to ensure better picturisation for my music. I will be the executive producer of this film.”
Yenda Thailaiku Yenna Vekkala is a dark comedy with Azar and Sanchita Shetty in the lead roles. Apart from being an executive producer, Reihana is also composing the songs for the film. Speaking about the film, she reveals, “This will be an out-and-out commercial entertainer with necessary thrilling moments in the second half. Azar is an excellent actor and he does comedy like Sivakarthikeyan, and sometimes even better than him! (laughs).” Reihana also states that a particular scene featuring Yogi Babu, Azar, and Dr Sharmili will be a laughter riot for the audience.
She zeroed in on Vignesh Karthik as the director after looking at his short film that her friend referred. The flick is almost completed and is slated to hit the theatres in a couple of months. When asked about AR Rahman’s reaction, she says, “He was surprised as well. He was like, ‘Oh you are also turning producer huh? Really?’”
