Vinu Mohan stepped into the shoes of an actor through Nivedyam, the last directorial venture of the screenwriter-turned-fimmaker A.K Lohithadas. Grandson of acting legend Kottarakara Sreedharan Nair, he acted in many films till 2013. But then the actor took a break. Recently, Vinu has made an excellent comeback with the first 100-crore club film in Malayalam, Pulimurugan. In his second innings as an actor, he has signed on yet another big project— Sathyan Anthikad’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal.
“I was dreaming to be a part of Sathyan sir’s film since I started my career. When I saw him with Lohi sir during Nivedyam, I had asked him about it. But now I have got the opportunity to face the camera for his project,” says Vinu. In the film, he plays the role of Dulquer Salmaan’s elder brother. “I have an interesting character called Alphi. Though he is a doctor, his main target is to earn money, so he is active in the real estate business and other such activities,” he says.
“After Sathyan sir saw me as an Achayan in Neena, he decided to cast me,” he adds. Speaking of his career break, he says, “I took a break following the demise of my father. He was the pillar of our family; the one who took care of every matter. It was almost the same time that I had got married. That time, I had put on weight and I was not interested in appearing in films in that look. That’s why I avoided many films that came to me. My come back to films was the cameo I did in Neena.”
Post Neena, he got call for Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan. “Director Vyshak ettan and writer Uday ettan had told me that they couldn’t tell me about the total number of shoot date and the release date. But when I heard the subject, I found it a better film to make a powerful comeback,” says the actor who got many good comments for his role in the movie. Vinu is in discussion for four films but he cannot reveal the details of those projects at this time.
