In love with euphony: Rahul Raj
It is an exciting year for music director Rahul Raj. One after the other, many movies are coming his way, including the most looked forward releases- Mammootty’s Kasaba, White and Manju Warrier’s Karimkunnam Sixes. “I am very happy this year I have so many projects to work for. I can’t get bogged down by what I love to do. Isn’t it?” laughs Rahul.
Rahul who completed doing musical score for Kasaba explains about the work he has done for the movie , “Kasaba is a suspense-based mass film where Mammootty is coming in the avatar we all love to see. So the music is set to a more happy, cocky and festival mode.
“There is also an item song, featuring Neha Saxena, which will give an edge to the movie and the music.” Karimkunnam Sixes, directed by Deepu Karunakaran, is Rahul’s second movie with the director. “Deepu is my friend as well. Since it is sports-based and shows the life of jail inmates, we decided to give more of an inspirational touch to the songs. The melody Medapoompattum chutti is the melody bit and there has been a good response to the songs,” says Rahul.
The composer has also given his voice to his own composition in Karimkunnam Sixes. “It was Deepu’s suggestion. He was insisting that I had to sing Dhadkane De, which is more of a Bhangra style,” explains Rahul. His upcoming works are for IDI- Inspector Dawood Ibrahim and Prithviraj starrer Ezra.
“IDI is a promising film for me because it is more of an experimental genre with an action comedy sequence. Each of these movies is providing me new challenges. As you strive to find something new and different, it is giving a solid experience as well. I have committed to some Telugu movies as well, but it is too early to talk about it,” signs off Rahul.
